August 1

A quiet day on the grid as I was busy organizing textures to facilitate less stressful building. I am happy to announce that the amount raised to TBI Group has now reached L$12 900...an amount that has assisted with their operating budget a great deal. The group will be formally unveiling the statue tomorrow, and I am hoping that Groove will be able to attend. I will take lots of pictures to share on here. The tip or share of the day... be good to one another. Peace.

July 31st, 2008

Another quiet day on the grid for this goth fairy. Donations are still being accepted for TBI Group, and while I can't think of the exact amount right of the top, approximately L$10 000 has been donated since I started on July 22nd. The TBI Angel will be available for purchase until August 5th and is now also available at Matikas Textures in Agape Enchanted (thank you so much Matika!). I would love to see the total sum of donations hit L$15 000 to support the work of this incredible group. I am absorbing all fees related to Hippo-Vend and SL Exchange purchases so every last linden you contribute IS reaching the intended designation.
The share for the day would be this great cheat sheet of SL shortcuts created by Kippie Friedkin. Get it.

Keep an eye out for some incredible scripted paperweights being developed... I hope to have them ready for release within a few days. Peace.

July 30th

Keeping in mind that today is the 1st anniversary of my dear friend Groove's motorcycle accident, I decided to donate the proceeds from all candles and candle products to TBI. The flame is symbolic of life and and the light that we share with our fellow citizen; how fitting a tribute to him and to all that we have and have had in our lives than to light a candle and cherish the light we have shared during our journeys together?

The day is still early, but over L$2 000 has been raised. It is also with immense gratitude that I wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to several people who helped to make today a success. In no specific order: Lil' Carducci, BigManu Greene, Jazz Meredith of Club Teasers and Matika Wombat of Matika's Textures. These individuals assisted by sending out notices, offering up group message space, offering up space for displays, and making financial contributions that will have an incredible impact upon the work that is done at the TBI Group. Their acts are a wonderful reflection of the many terrific people found in SL. Thank you.

In new products, I am pleased to announce the release of a lovely globe paperweight, available in either a gold or polished silver finish. The Earth and atmosphere rotate and different speeds and are power controlled by touch and drop-down menu. Standing at roughly 5 inches tall, they will be sure to hold down those blow-away papers that are so troublesome in SL.... especially since the release of "wind"light. (bad joke but I couldn't resist). Each paperweight weighs in at only 5 prims and is priced at L$50. For easy gift giving they have transferable perms.

July 29, 2008
A quiet day in Second Life today as Real Life had more important things to put my attention on. I did find this handy article though, which explains the dynamics of lag on the system. Well written and worth the read.

New product release for the day... A "Playful Dolphin Fountain"... The dolphins are sculpted prims, the spray is emitted from a multi-coloured stained glass ball. the fountain is complete with four different sit poses, and the sound of water gentle moving. Note the shadow prim on the floor of the fountain... to add a touch of realism to the design.
L$300, transferable for easy gift giving. Available on SL Exchange and inworld at my shop.

TBI Group

After 11 wks of work, I completed my first sculpted primative statue. As I was finishing the work, I realized that the 1st anniversary of my friend's motorcycle accident was coming close. After some mind wracking, I decided to create a work as a symbol of the event, and maybe even raise some funds for a group that he speaks highly of in aiding his recovery.
The TBI Angel was born.

The response has been wonderful, and since releasing the sculpture on July 22nd, I have been able to donate close to L$8 000 to the group through TBI Angel sales, other events and private donations that have been made.

In recognition of this, TBI Group has made space displayed a statue at their office, with a lovely plaque for all to enjoy. In addition to this, I was presented tonight with a plaque to display recognizing and thanking me for the donations.

I am deeply touched by the plaque, as validates what I hoped to do; Observe such a horrific event in a proactive way. The man I have known for so many years in many ways has been taken away from me, but through the committment of many individuals and organizations, in real life and SL, he is slowly making his way back. For that I am indebted.

Welcome... my store is called "Mauve's Box" and just like the store, I have no idea until after the fact what you will find inside the blog. New product discussion and information, places I've ventured upon, discussions I've had... its all open territory. This is Second Life, let the pixels fall where they may.
